THEATRE

Sacrifice
February 16, 2012
If you’ve been waiting for your next chance to experience the work of playwright and actor Kate Hawkes, here is it! Kate’s newest work-in-progress is the middle one-act of a proposed trilogy. In Sacrifice, a young female veteran of the Iraq war is on the verge of regaining consciousness after surgery for terrible wounds. The audience moves inside the veteran’s levels of consciousness as she struggles with whether to return or not—in the process meeting a fellow serviceman who died in Iraq and a Vietnam-era veteran who had returned.
Kate Hawkes has wide-ranging theatre experience and is an arts-in-healthcare provider and consultant. She is also Artistic Director of the upcoming Arizona Centennial production of Fred and Mary: An Unconventional Romance at The Elks Opera House, July 7-15, 2012.
As always, the reading of this new play is followed by audience discussion and feedback. Coffee, teas, and baked goods available for purchase.
