Celebrating Music Concert: Sharlot Hall Museum: Women on the Move
July 30, 2011
Sharlot Hall Museum's Blue Rose Theater will be the place to be when the popular Los Angeles-based acoustic trio "Women on the Move" returns to Prescott.
The trio, which wowed audiences at the Museum's 2010 Folk Music Festival, is made up of independent solo artists Joan Enguita, Linda Geleris and Trish Lester. They joined forces a few years ago to tour as an acoustic trio, sharing original music, folk and pop favorites and beloved Joni Mitchell songs.
Their songs of love, life and hope, with acoustic guitar, mandolin, dulcimer and lively percussion, are a hit at fundraising events, music festivals and women's conferences. In May 2011, the trio took First Place in the Vocal Competition at the Topanga Banjo-Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival in Southern California.
Described as "folksy and story telling," their original works feature songs as varied as a desire for mutual understanding, an ode to a mother's unshared past and a resolute anthem of perseverance inspired by the headlines of suffering during Hurricane Katrina. Together these "Women on the Move" harmoniously complement one another to make for a fun musical night out.
