UNIQUE AZ

Christmases Past
December 13, 2009
The Sharlot Hall Museum will continue a unique local tradition when it presents the annual "Christmases Past" program. The program features oral history narrators who are long-time Yavapai County residents reviving reminiscences of Christmas celebrations of yesteryear. This year's event features local oral historian Sylvia Neely talking with retired mail carrier Karl Sims about delivering Christmas mail in the pre-automated, pre-email age. The program is enlivened by questions from audience members, and invariably wanders to other "historical trivia" about Yavapai County and other Christmas memories. To enhance the spirit of the event, the a cappella group Woman Song will open the afternoon with timeless renditions of songs of the season.
